How Dean Dorton Allen Ford Can Help
The Process Improvement Team at DDAF has developed a comprehensive methodology to identify opportunities for improvement within an organization. This approach can be applied strategically or tactically, depending on your current needs. We will work with you to help determine the appropriate level and in which areas we can help based on your individual needs.
We'll first define the purpose and value of the area being evaluated. This step is often overlooked or outright ignored, as many feel this is inherently obvious. Our view is that this is necessary and important to ensure that the organization understands the value being provided to the customer.
A Value Stream Analysis (VSA) is conducted to document the current state, identify areas for improvement, and develop a future state. To maximize the impact of the VSA, our preferred approach involves utilizing the people who actually perform the process, and associated management actively participate in the VSA.
The VSA will provide an improvement plan where action items are implemented through either a project, a Rapid Improvement (or Kaizen) event, or a Just-Do-It activity. This is an iterative phase that follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act improvement process.
Sustaining the improvements is the most difficult piece of any improvement process. To help ensure that the actions are sustainable, key metrics and control loops are established by the teams to enable monitoring and adjusting to current conditions.
