Time is a precious resource that cannot be regained once lost. And you may be unaware of just how much time is being wasted at your company by inefficient, outdated processes. Dean Dorton Allen Ford's Process Improvement Team has developed an intricate and exhaustive methodology for exposing and correcting inefficiencies within an organization. Utilizing either a strategic or tactical approach, we'll work with you to help improve your business and streamline your processes.
First, we'll define the purpose and value of the area of your company that's under scrutiny. This step might seem unnecessary, but the fact is parts of the company can drift if they aren't rooted firmly in their purpose: to help provide value to the customer.
Second, we'll conduct a Value Stream Analysis (VAS) to identify and log the current state and expose areas in need of improvement. We'll also develop a goal or future state in this step. To maximize the impact, we prefer to work with the people who actually perform the process, and all associated management actively participates in the VSA.
Finally, we follow the improvement plan laid down in the VSA. We'll set up action items that are implemented through either a project, a Rapid Improvment (or Kaizen) event, or a Just-Do-It activity. This is an iterative phase that follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act improvement process.
The most difficult part of the whole Process Improvement is actually sustaining the improvements. To help insure the changes stick, key metrics and control loops are established by the teams to enable monitoring and adjusting to current conditions.
